Purpose / Indications:
Dormicum is used to:
• Induce sleep in patients with insomnia or pre-surgery anxiety
• Relieve severe tension, anxiety, or panic before medical procedures
• Provide sedation before or during diagnostic or surgical procedures
• Control acute seizures (in hospital use)
How It Works:
Midazolam increases the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) in the brain, slowing down nervous system activity. This results in calmness, drowsiness, and muscle relaxation.
Dosage (typical):
Adults:
• 7.5–15 mg orally before bedtime (for insomnia or anxiety)
• 7.5–15 mg orally 30–60 minutes before medical procedures (as premedication)
Children:
• Use only under a physician’s supervision
